Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the natural beauty the world offers, and interpreting those vistas through semi-abstract forms.  Steering viewers away from traditional concepts to invoke imagination and curiosity through capturing the elusive qualities of color and light.  The stillness of the mediums used to create the paintings are brought to life through the use of organic shapes, contouring textures, intense colors and dramatic light.  My work explores a personal drive to tell the story of our connection to the world that surrounds us all, but makes space to allow the viewer to interpret their own expression and connection.

I have been working in the creative field since 1983 primarily in graphic design focused on print advertisement, commercial product packaging, and web design for the commercial business industry.  I received my BFA from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China in 1982.  I was an Associate Professor at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts with a curriculum focused in graphic design, and three dimensional designs from 1984 to 2000.
