Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the natural beauty the world offers, and I interpret those vistas through semi-abstract forms.  Steering viewers away from traditional concepts to invoke imagination and curiosity by capturing the elusive qualities of color and light.  The stillness of the mediums I use is brought to life through organic shapes, contoured textures, intense colors, and dramatic light.  My work explores a personal drive to tell the story of our connection to the world that surrounds us all, but makes space to allow the viewer to interpret their own expression and connection.

I have been working in the creative field since 1983, primarily in graphic design focused on print advertising, commercial product packaging, and web design for the commercial business industry.  I received my BFA from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China in 1982.  I was an Associate Professor at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts with a curriculum focused on graphic design and three-dimensional design from 1984 to 2000.
